For you folks who simply love iTunes and have been craving for an iTunes account (like me) to access all her goodies, here’s a fantastic guide for you!
Compulsory requirements:
- Functioning computer/laptop/Mac
- iTunes programme
- Internet connection
- Brains
1. Access iTunes Store
First of all, open up your iTunes programme. Next, click on the iTunes Store button (green icon) which is located at the left sidebar.

2. Choose Your Country
Upon clicking, you should be able to see “Accessing iTunes Store…” at the display bar above. Your iTunes Store should load in a jiffy if your connection is fast. Scroll down to the bottom of the store and you can see a tiny flag there. Make sure it’s the flag of the United States. If it is, skip to Step 3.

By default, it should be a flag of the United States. However, in any case that it isn’t, click on the tiny flag. This will bring you to a new page of flags. Scroll to the bottom to find the flag of the United States and click on it. This is to set your country as United States in order to access United States’ iTunes Store. Frigging Malaysia’s iTunes Store has got no shit at all! I had to make two accounts because I was honest initially. After clicking, wait for it to load and you should be redirected back to the iTunes Store homepage.

3. Access App Store
Next, click on App Store which is located at the black bar above the store.

4. Access Free Apps
Next, scroll down the App Store. At the sidebar on the right, you should be able to see Free Apps. Simply point your cursor on any application and a FREE button should appear. Click on that.

5. Create New Account
Upon clicking the FREE button, a small window asking you to sign in to your account should pop up. Click on the Create New Account button at the bottom left of the small window.

6. Account Creation
The following steps are very simple.
In the new page that appears, click Continue to continue of course.

Then, iTunes Store Terms & Conditions should appear. Tick the small box to agree to the T&C and click Continue.

At the create an account page, fill in your details. Just a simple warning, DO NOT PUT IN A FAKE EMAIL ADDRESS as a confirmation link to activate the account will be sent to that address. Then, click Continue.

Here, a page asking for payment methods will appear. Do not fear, for I have conquered this. Of the payment methods listed, e.g. Visa, MasterCard, Paypal, you should be able to see a None option. Select None as your payment method. Ignore the iTunes Gift Cards and Certificates section and proceed to fill in the details. Here, you can fill in fake details but make sure you provide relevant information for the City, State, and Zip Code boxes. They won’t let you continue if you simply put any numbers in. Google, if you don’t know. I chose Beverly Hills, California, 90211, as my “location”. Also, double confirm that your Country/Region is stated as United States.

Finally, this is the last page that will appear.

Do as you’re told and voila! You have your own free iTunes Account! Now you can get album artworks for free, use the Home Sharing and Genius function, and have access to tonnes of other free stuff!
Thank you, Brain!

you can even set your country to malaysia. it still works. unfortunaly i cldnt get the none option for my yohanand@mac.com user
yes, it works for malaysia. that’s why i have 2 accounts now. but malaysia’s iTunes store has got no shit. very limited stuff. so no point getting a malaysian account.

heyyy. thanks for the tutorial! :DD
haha. welcome. =)
Rather nice site you’ve got here. Thanx for it. I like such topics and everything that is connected to this matter. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.
Best regards
Hello, I’ve done the steps but there’s no “None” button :(
What should I do? Thanks.
hi, bluweey.
first of all, did you access the account creation page through the free apps? secondly, make sure the country chosen is United States.
if you’ve done all the steps correctly, there shouldn’t be any problem. but if it still fails, considering the fact that this guide has been around for some time, iTunes might have already rectified this loophole and fixed it.
so sorry.
yeah this guide is dated, there is no none option anymore. going to just have to trust apple now.
Hey can I quote some of the material here in this site if I reference you with a link back to your site?
